
Some of the Campaigns with which we are consistently engaged are elaborated below:
Young Children - 16% of our population - made their presence felt in 2006 through the Bal Adhikar Yatra campaign in Delhi (read Breaking New Ground) followed by the release of the Focus on Children Under Six (FOCUS) Report by the Right to Food Campaign on the status of the young child and the ICDS. Its subsequent input into dialogues with the Prime Minister and Planning Commission has created a better understanding of issues but is yet to be translated into higher budgets for adequate infrastructure and personnel and better implementation.
Migrant Children of construction workers, in the cities of India will fall under the spotlight in the build up to the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi, as more job-seeking migrant families arrive in Delhi. Mobile Creches is part of an informal coalition of organizations and individuals, the Commonwealth Games - Citizens for Workers, Women and Children (CWG-CWC), getting ready to work on a core set of objectives:
Mobile Creches was part of the coordinating team of JSAD, which organized public hearings on health in different parts of Delhi such as Dakshinpuri, Holambikala and Lal Kuan. The outcome of these hearings resulted in building direct links with the community and health officials.
