CHILDCARE
SERVICES
Mobile Creches believes it is critical to solve the problem of limited access to
quality public childcare services as a barrier to labour rights, social justice, and gender equity.
Over 90% of working women in India are engaged in the informal economy. They lack social security benefits and face hazardous working conditions. Their families also lack access to quality education, childcare, and healthcare.

Children of the working poor grow up in unsafe and hostile conditions facing neglect and abuse, when their parents are away at work. One in three children under five years of age are underweight. With limited access to state supported creches, women shoulder the unpaid care burden, limiting their participation in the workforce.

Mobile Creches was founded as a pioneering initiative, providing holistic childcare services to ensure the well-being of marginalised children and the economic empowerment of their mothers. Our approach encompasses health & hygiene, nutrition, early learning, and parenting support in a safe and protective environment for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. A trained careworker lies at the core of our early childhood development model.

From Struggle to Stability - Firdaus Anjum

A 36-year-old mother of 6 children, Firdaus Anjum arrived in Delhi with her husband as migrant labourers from a village in Bihar. Their eldest child was 12 and the youngest a 5 month old infant.
After months of searching, Anjum and her husband found work at a construction site in Gurgaon. Caring for 6 children while working long hours as labourers was an overwhelming challenge. Anjum found that their children's basic needs were getting neglected as they submitted to the relentless grind of work.
In 2022, Mobile Creches opened a childcare centre at The Millennia Signature construction site where Anjum and her husband worked.
"The centre came as a blessing," Anjum recalls. " I enrolled my children at the creche and finally found peace of mind knowing that my children were safe and cared for."

With her children now in safe hands, Anjum's work became more consistent and she was able to focus on her own health as well. The support from Mobile Creches allowed her husband and her to earn more steadily, easing their financial situation.
"Mobile Creches has been a lifeline for me. They didn’t just provide care for my children; they gave me the freedom to build a better future for all of us." Anjum’s journey from rural Bihar to the construction sites of Gurgaon, and finally to a place of relative stability and hope, is a testament to the critical role of organisations like Mobile Creches in empowering women and uplifting families.
